Juniors Season Details and Registration Spring 2025

Maine Coast Rowing Association offers year-round training and racing for students in grades 8–12, with a mission to share the joy and technique of sculling and sweep rowing in the greater Midcoast Maine area. Our facilities, located in Brunswick, Maine, are easily accessible to families throughout the region. We row primarily on the Lower Androscoggin River, which provides some of the best water for rowing in New England.

As we look ahead to the Spring 2025 season, we’re excited to continue building on the momentum from our Maine Coast Fall 2024 season and defend our 2024 Maine State Team Championship title. Whether you're new to the sport or an experienced rower, we welcome all skill levels. Join us this spring as we work together to grow our community and our success!

Rowing is about more than just the meters you cover on the water. It's about the steps you take off the water to grow physically and mentally as an athlete. It’s about the discipline to push yourself towards your goals and embrace challenges along the way.

At Maine Coast Rowing, we train indoors for the first 5 weeks of our indoor season and then transition to the New Meadows River when it is time to hit the water. The first part of our season is focused on building speed and strength in our athletes. Through weight training, bodywork, and ergometer training, we aim to develop aerobic endurance, explosive power, and mental toughness. We also emphasize mobility and mindfulness to prepare rowers for the competitive racing season ahead. Our goal is to create a strong 2k foundation for all athletes, with particular attention to those pursuing collegiate rowing, ensuring they’re ready for the next level.

As a benefit of our partnership with the Brunswick Parks and Recreation Fitness Center, all participants will benefit from full member access to the Cardio Center and Weightroom for the duration of the Indoor period (Mar 4th to @ April 4th) at any time outside of scheduled team training periods during normal facility operating hours. The group discounted membership rate through this partnership and schedule allows Maine Coast Rowing to keep the coached training program costs as reasonable as possible while providing maximum accessibility and flexibility.

Our athletes will receive personal training plans tailored to their goals with specific strength and fitness markers in addition to the daily training support and supervision of guided strength training and exercise form development. On the ergometer, we will work on maintaining and improving form fundamentals with disciplined rowing base technique that is critical to maintaining good form in the boat. Additionally, we will practice the base racing plan to be as prepared as possible for the early outdoor races.
