Juniors Season Details and Registration Spring 2024

Maine Coast Rowing Association offers year round rowing training and racing opportunities to students in the 8th – 12th grade. Our goal is to spread the joy and technique of sculling and sweep rowing in the greater Midcoast Maine area. Our facilities are conveniently located in Brunswick, Maine easily accessible for families across the region. We primarily row on the Lower Androscoggin River providing some of the best water to row on in New England. We are excited to begin the Spring 2024 season to continue building our momentum and community from the Maine Coast Fall 2023 season into Spring 2024 as we look ahead to the upcoming year and defending our 2023 Maine State Team Championship title. Please join us for Spring 2024. Both new and experienced rowers are welcome.

Rowing is about more than the meters you put in on the water with an oar or sculls in your hand(s). It is also about the steps you take off the water, both physically and mentally to improve yourself as an athlete.  It is about the discipline to pursue goals and challenges.

During the first part of our season at Maine Coast, we will continue to build our rowers speed and strength, through weight training, body work, and ergometer training to build aerobic resilience, explosive power, and mental fortitude. Utilizing concepts of mobility and mindfulness, we want to focus on preparing for the competitive racing part of the spring season and beyond while creating a strong 2k background for all rowers, especially those on the collegiate track with plans to row at the college or university level.

As a benefit of our partnership with the Brunswick Parks and Recreation Fitness Center all participants will benefit from full member access to the newly unveiled Cardio Center and Weightroom for the duration of the Indoor period (Mar 6th to @ April 5th) at any time outside of scheduled team training periods during normal facility operating hours. The group discounted membership rate through this partnership and schedule allows Maine Coast Rowing to keep the coached training program costs as reasonable as possible while providing maximum accessibility and flexibility.

Our athletes will receive personal training plans tailored to their goals with specific strength and fitness markers in addition to the daily training support and supervision of guided strength training and exercise form development. On the ergometer, we will work on maintaining and improving form fundamentals with disciplined rowing base technique that is critical to maintaining good form in the boat. Additionally, we will practice the base racing plan at racing stroke rate to be as prepared as possible for the early outdoor races.
